Sen. Inhofe Of Oklahoma Is A Twit

Well, maybe that's a bit harsh. Maybe he's not a twit, maybe he's just doing his duty as one of the Bush Administration's foot soldiers. So I'll rephrase that… perhaps he's just a totally unscrupulous, greedy, devil of a man who will do nothing to stand in the way of total environmental destruction. Or maybe he is just a twit.
In his latest bout of diarrhea of the mouth, he praises Fox News as being the exception with regards to 'inaccurate' reporting on the issue of global warming. He goes on to say that CNN (which in all fairness isn't that much better than Fox) has got it all wrong.
So here's my take on what he said, and while you read, keep in mind that this hairball is also chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, yikes.
He starts off by saying "the earth's temperature is warming right now but, I believe, from natural causes", this is the favorite argument of global warming critics because it shifts the blame and thus the responsibility from people to the planet itself. From now on I think I'm going to call this one the 'Blame The Planet, Not Us' argument. Let's entertain for a second that he was right (he isn't), and the only cause of global warming was natural climate cycles. What difference does it make who is causing the warming? We know that C02 emmisions lead to an increase in global temperatures. That's real, it's a fact, so what's wrong with us trying to reduce the impact of natural warming by removing anthropogenic warming from the equation?
Next, Fox oh-so-tactfully asks their next heavily loaded question about the so called inaccuracies in CNN's response to his senate speech. Inhofe responds that they weren't accurate at all, and in total they said 8 things which were all wrong about him and the issue of climate change… ooooo this should be fun. The first thing he says, "They said such things as, that we had received money from the oil and gas industry. And they completely forget about the fact that other members are taking it. [from the environmental left]" Ha ha ha… notice how he indirectly admits to taking money from the oil and gas industry? Sounds like CNN got it right. This argument also reaks of faulty logic; other people are doing it so it's ok right? Dude, send this guy back to middle school, he still has some lessons to learn.
Then he says, "Then they [far-left-environmentalists] talk about hurricanes being related to… and the polar bear population… we have all the documentation that this just isn't true." Bullshit… pure and simple.
"There are 60 scientists in Canada that had been recommending to Prime Minister Harper that they get off of the Kyoto Protocol because of the economic destruction in their country." Since when do (real) scientists make economic recommendations? What kind of scientists are we talking about here?
Fox at the end of their question says, "…or are we moving in the right direction when it comes to making sure that we aren't unnecessarily destroying the planet." Is there ever a time when destroying the planet is necessary? Inhofe's response, "Yeah, well, we really are. This president, president Bush, has an initiative that far exceeds what anyone else has done." Disgusting.
He closes with the following statement on the heels of his touting of Bush's environmental record, "It is a success story. And those who don't want it to be told are the one who are saying, "Ah, we have global warming."
So is my assesment of this man as a twit who is in bed with the Bush Administration correct? I still think so. And I only counted 3 things there… maybe he should go back to kindergarten so he can learn how to count to 8.
