Sir Richard Branson Calls For Sweeping Changes In Aviation

Sir Richard Branson, yes he has been knighted by the Queen of England herself, is the head of the Virgin brand which includes the airline Virgin Atlantic. He's calling for the whole aviation industry to work together to find creative solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
He even makes some suggestions such as a towing system where airplanes are towed to and from the runways instead of idling their engines for lengthy periods of time. He claims could reduce on the ground fuel costs by up to 90%.
Righto.

I welcome Richards belated conversion to the cause of fighting climate change.
At Treeflights.com we plant trees to offset airline passengers CO2 emissions.
We would have to plant about a million trees this year to offset the emissions from his aviation business. Even then it would take a hundred years or so for the trees to re-absorb his gargantuan CO2 production. This would have to be repeated every year and takes no account of radiative forcing (the multiplier greenhouse effect of emissions at altitude) or the other ghgs that his planes produce.
Ah well, never mind, it’s only a planet.
