Greenland Glacier BeerA small micro-brewery in Greenland is producing a beer with some of the purest water available. The water comes from the melting greenland ice cap and is said to be completely free of contaminants and at least 2,000 years old.

It's good to know that someone's putting that melt water to good use.

NY Governor Pataki Signs Renewable-Fuels Bill

George PatakiGov. George Pataki has signed a bill that prohibits gasoline distributers from requiring 'exclusivity' contracts with their customers. Until now, gas station owners have been bound by contracts requiring them to buy their gas only from one distributer. If a gas station wanted to offer alternative fuels but their distributer didn't sell them they would be out of luck. Now gas stations across New York State will have a choice to offer fuel from whatever distributer they like.

The idea is that this will promote gas stations to offer more fueling options at the pump such as E85, Biodiesel, Hydrogen, and/or natural gas.

Green TagsThe record label that originally signed Nirvana, has become the first record label to offset it's power costs with renewable energy. They purchased enough Green Tags to cover their impact on the climate through their power usage. The president of the label had this to say:

"I was, quite frankly, shocked by how easy it is to support renewable energy. Green Tags are a simple way for anyone to choose wind energy, which, in turn, lowers dependence on burning fossils fuels for energy" [Jambase]

Anyone can purchase Green Tags to greenify their power usage. Just visit http://www.GreenTagsUSA.org

You can purchase tags in 99% Wind / 1% Solar for $20, or 90% Wind / 10% Solar for $24 USD.

Rationing could be key to war on climate change

When I was in high school I took a class called Environmental Science. About 2/3rds through the year my teacher asked each of us 6 students whether we were optimists or pessimists when it came to the future of our environment. I tend to sway more towards the pessimistic side but deep down I know there's still hope for us. There are still many people on this planet that want to live on it as long as humanly possible.

Anyway, that is why I love this article for it's near perfect representation of what I believe we must do to curb climate change. It may be slightly pessimistic, it may be realistic, or it may be a bit over the top, the only way to know for sure is to wait and see what happens. None-the-less it's a good read.
