A bus company located in New Zealand called Designline is working with an American company named Alchemy to develop a bus powered by a new fuel cell technology. The fuel cell is called a Metal-Air Fuel Cell (MAFC) and is being developed by a partnership between Alchemy and the JPL/NASA.

The buses will be cheaper to run than traditional gasoline vehicles, produce no harmful emissions, and will be able to go between 500-800 miles before refueling. They are hoping to have a working prototype by December of 2006 and their first bus in operation by March 2007.
