In an ironic twist, pollution may be responsible for regional cooling trends. Studies of pollution in the Indian Ocean have shown that smog from India absorbs sunlight before it reaches the surface, which has led to cooler surface temperatures. You may have heard about this phonomenon before, it is also known as global dimming. The questions is, if and when we clean up our particulate pollution; will we unleash the full wrath of the greenhouse gasses already present in our atmosphere? [Discovery News]
